Pat McAfee returned and kicked off this week’s Friday Night SmackDown. However, he didn’t come alone to the show. The former football punter introduced The Rock, who made his first appearance in the WWE after almost four years. The latter proceeded to brutally troll Austin Theory and hit him with the People’s Elbow for old time’s sake.
Furthermore, the People’s Champ encouraged Pat McAfee to perform the most electrifying move in all of sports entertainment. In an exclusive backstage interview with Kayla Braxton, McAfee spoke about how it felt to stand in the same ring with the legend. First, he revealed that he had to rush his way to the arena.
“Because the show I do every Saturday on college game days is in Boulder, a 45-minute drive down here. I hopped in the bus and showered in the bus to get here, as soon as I heard there was an opportunity to get here,” explained the color commentator. Moreover, the 36-year-old described his experience with The Rock during the opening segment.
Pat McAfee termed it “living his dream” for someone like him who is a long-time fan of WWE. Previously, he shared a moment with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 and ended up with another icon of the same era on SmackDown. The segment last night truly encapsulated the charisma of The Rock, who captivated the audience once again.
Pat McAfee calls Michael Cole the greatest commentator of all time

The commentary team of Pat McAfee and Michael Cole on SmackDown garnered a lot of praise from the WWE Universe. In fact, it proved why the latter is often relied upon by the company. Last night, McAfee returned to the show alongside The Rock.
Afterwards, he talked with Kayla Braxton and praised his former partner. “He always has to be the one doing the play-by-play (commentary), of which he is the greatest of all time, bar none. I understand there has always been a conversation for other people but they have not been paying attention closely,” McAfee said while talking about Michael Cole.
Furthermore, the 36-year-old mentioned Cole’s body transformation and claimed that he looks “amazing.” Finally, he dropped a major hint by revealing he would work with the veteran soon. Therefore, fans can expect the entertaining duo to reunite on SmackDown.
