“We both had our sh*t,” Randy Orton reveals how he honestly feels about CM Punk being back in WWE

Randy Orton returned to WWE after a long 18-month absence from the company due to injury. The Viper was the last member of Cody Rhodes‘ team at Survivor Series: WarGames. Despite the grand comeback, he wasn’t the focal point coming out of the show. As the PLE drew close to its end, CM Punk shocked the world and blew the roof off the Allstate Arena that night. Recently, Orton opened up about how he felt about The Second City Saint’s return.
During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, the fourteen-time World Champion detailed how the locker room perceived Punk in his initial run. Randy Orton claimed that The Best in the World had a “dark cloud” over him. However, The Legend Killer related his situation to his own when he had issues backstage as well. As a result, he was more than willing to welcome back the 45-year-old star with open arms.

In addition to that, The Apex Predator revealed that he shook CM Punk’s hand and hugged him after their return. All in all, Randy Orton wishes nothing but the best for the former WWE Champion, who’s looking to make amends in his second run.
Currently, Orton is gearing up for the Royal Rumble, where he will compete in a fatal 4-way match for the Undisputed Universal Championship. Meanwhile, CM Punk will enter the titular bout and look to finish his story of headlining WrestleMania. Needless to say, the duo’s returns injected new possibilities and excitement into the ongoing booming period of WWE.
Randy Orton wants to face John Cena in dream WrestleMania match
At the age of 43, Randy Orton has accomplished a lot in his legendary wrestling career. The Apex Predator has fought numerous superstars from different generations. Undoubtedly, John Cena was his biggest rival. In the same interview on The Bump, the Grand Slam Champion talked about the possibility of winning the World Title again. Moreover, facing The Cenation Leader in a dream WrestleMania match for the championship.
While the pair has squared off on several occasions, Orton mentioned that they never competed in a singles match at the event. Therefore, he believes it would be good to revisit their rivalry, as the WWE Universe would want that as well.
A dream match for me would be to somehow find myself in a situation where I’m fighting Cena at WrestleMania for the title. I don’t know how you get there, I’m not saying it’s gonna happen. But I have never wrestled John at WrestleMania in a singles match. The history between Cena and Orton goes way back to 2007, when the duo engaged in a deeply personal feud. Despite not competing in a singles bout at WrestleMania, they fought in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 24, involving Triple H. It will be interesting to see whether The Viper’s wish to compete with John comes true in the future.
