Randy Orton has been one of the greatest wrestlers ever to step in the squared circle. Randy Orton’s rise from a rookie to becoming a world Champion was quick and very commendable. Orton shone in the wrestling circuit since his OVW days and is today one of the popular wrestlers of all time. From being a rookie and a part of the villainous stable to forming his own stable and taking rookies under his wing, Orton has come a long way. Randy Orton recently completed 20 years of illustrious career in the company and will surely be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame one day.

Randy Orton is currently out of action due to a back injury and is said to be out of action for the rest of the year too. It is said that Randy was originally scheduled to face Roman Reigns at the SummerSlam but was sidelined due to his injury. Randy was last seen as a part of the RK-BRO and the latest he held a championship was the RAW tag team championship with Riddle. On May 20th edition of SmackDown, the Usos defeated Randy and Riddle to win the RAW tag Team Championship and thus unified the tag championships. This also happens to be Randy’s last match as of now.

In 2003, Randy Orton began with his Legend Killer Gimmick, he portrayed a guy who was a young rookie but was so gifted that he proclaimed himself the future of the WWE. The Viper then had multiple feuds with some of the older, well-known wrestlers and gained notoriety for belittling them. Randy then appeared on the Jericho’s Highlight reel talk show and claimed that he was a legend killer and was waiting for the next legend to challenge him.

Heart break kid Shawn Michaels entered the arena and attacked Orton, the feud heated each passing day and eventually the then GM of RAW Steve Austin scheduled their bout at the Unforgiven 2003. At the event Randy Orton defeated Shawn Michaels. This was first of many “Legend vs Legend killer” matches in Orton’s career. He has faced Michaels numerous times in his career and has mostly won over him at Pay Per View events.

Back in 2020, During an interview with the ringer wrestling show, Randy shared talked about Shawn Michaels and how he feels he was similar to the Heart Break Kid. Randy remarked that he considers himself fortunate to have shared the locker room with some excellent people in the firm and seen how they went about their lives and their relationships with their children. Randy confessed that Shawn Michaels was a jerk, and when he met Shawn, he learned that Shawn was a douche too. Randy stated that he recognized how Shawn transformed himself and that he, too, was comparable to Shawn, implying that both had a bad reputation early in their careers but changed as time went.

“I was lucky to have some great men in the locker room, kind of see how they went about life and how they were with their kids. I got to see Shawn Michaels, who, on all accounts was a complete as*hole. And when I met him I even thought he was a pr*ck. But, I saw the change and I heard the stories… And I feel like, it’s kind of funny, the same thing kind of happened to me. Kind of. You know, it’s part of the journey. I think my legacy is the longevity.”

Michaels also faced Orton at the Survivor series 2007 for the WWE Championship, where he was banned from using the sweet chin music. Michaels was defeated by Randy Orton in that match.
