WATCH: Rare video of Roman Reigns backstage preparation before his match against Jey Uso at SummerSlam
A TikTok video posted by Roman Reigns' official account gave a glimpse of his preparation backstage before his match against Jey Uso at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns backstage
Roman Reigns continued his dominant reign as the Undisputed Universal Champion at SummerSlam. He squared off against his cousin, Jey Uso, in the first-ever Tribal Combat fight in the main event. Recently, a video showing the Tribal Chief’s pre-match preparation went viral online. It revealed what the 38-year-old does backstage before his title defenses.
First, Roman was seen applying a spray on his arms to make them shine and gloating about it to the camera by calling it the “greatest skin of all time.” Charles Robinson, a veteran referee, was seen interacting with him. The former Shield member sarcastically asked Robinson to exchange his hair for the champion’s skin.
Afterwards, Roman Reigns said, “Don’t worry, I’m going to bump him later.” Obviously, this was a hilarious reference to his matches where the referee always gets “inadvertently” knocked down. He then puts his ring gear on and goes near the Gorilla position with his wise man, Paul Heyman. Furthermore, the Tribal Chief warms up by performing a few stretches and push-ups.
Reigns proceeds to have a small prayer before wearing his Ula Fala. Evidently, the necklace is often worn by him during important events. It signifies his position as the Tribal Chief of his Samoan bloodline. Fans online were impressed by the humility shown by the champion off-screen, given his stature in the industry.
The Bloodline will not be appearing on this week’s SmackDown
The Bloodline saga saw another twist at the end of last week’s SmackDown. Jey Uso announced that he was leaving WWE after laying out Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso. This left the WWE Universe anticipating the next chapter of the story. However, fans may have to wait a little bit longer for it to happen.
According to a report by PW Insider, Reigns is not scheduled or advertised for the show in Toronto. Furthermore, it stated that nobody else from The Bloodline is set to appear as well. After months of segments containing the faction on each episode, the story is set for a short break now. Moreover, this gives other talent on the roster an opportunity to step up.
Another prominent source, BWE, recently tweeted, “With The Bloodline taking a breather, it’s now a big test for WWE superstars to step up.” LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Iyo Sky and Sheamus, who are popular among fans, can benefit from this in the absence of The Bloodline.
