WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has been one of the very few superstars who is loved universally. He has never turned heel in his entire career. However, fans have pointed out how his friends and partners always betray Rey as they turn heel by attacking him. The most recent addition to the list is Santos Escobar

Mysterio was a guest on the SmackDown Talk Show and was asked what the standout moment was for him. The Lucha legend explained that the thing that stood out for him was the betrayal of his former friend Escobar. He further added that he has his people too, and when he returns, everything will be taken care of.

Unfortunately, what Santos did to me... but at the same time you know it's something that has occurred to me on several occasions throughout my longevity of being in WWE, for some reason I keep on picking the wrong partners. But, things will be told when the time is right.

An interesting fact is that this is not the first time a wrestler close to Rey has betrayed him. In 2009, Dave Batista betrayed Rey Mysterio after failing to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Later, his son Dominik Mysterio turned heel by attacking Edge and him at the Clash at the Castle last year. Now, it is Escobar who has recently found new partners in crime, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo

As of now, there is no news on the exact timeline of the 49-year-old legend’s return, as he suffered an injury following Escobar’s attack. Meanwhile, Santos can grab the opportunity to face United States Champion Logan Paul. However, he will have to go through Kevin Owens first in the eight-man U.S. Title tournament finals. It will be interesting to see whether Escobar manages to beat Owens or not.

Rey Mysterio expressed his feelings after Dominik Mysterio walked away from his Hall of Fame ceremony

Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest highflyers of all time. He has entertained the fans with his mesmerizing in-ring moves for two decades and received his well-deserved Hall of Fame induction this year. However, during the ceremony, his son Dominik got up and left, leaving Rey in complete shock and disappointment.

The 49-year-old spoke on the ‘The Absolute Best of 2023’ edition of the SmackDown talk show about the whole ceremony and his speech. He was hurt to see his son go away while he was conducting his speech.

It was very hard for me to (see) at the corner of my eyes see my son (Dominik Mysterio) get up as I was conducting my speech and see him walk away. Hurtful. But at the same time, like I mentioned before these are re-occurring events that have happened to me in the past.

However, Mysterio further said he was not surprised to see his behavior, as he had witnessed these events in the past as well. Although fans may hate him, “Dirty” Dom is doing some of his best work for the company right now. For now, it seems impossible for the father-son duo to reunite, but anything can happen in WWE.
