Logan Paul is currently in the headlines after his victory over Dillon Danis. Following his match, he immediately challenged Rey Mysterio for his United States championship. As a result, Mysterio invited The Maverick to SmackDown, where they could talk face-to-face. However, the legendary luchador highly praised Paul’s growth over the past few years as a wrestler.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Rey Mysterio said, “He can adapt to any style, which is cr*zy, you know. Not a lot of guys can come in to our world and perform the way they perform, like Logan and like Bad Bunny in a way, You know. They pick up the beat right away, so it’s shocking. Shocking, but not scary.”
The WWE Hall of Famer heaped praise on the social media megastar for his amazing transition into WWE. Mysterio expressed his astonishment at how incredibly well Logan Paul is in the ring. Moreover, the luchador highlighted the breathtaking spots the latter has delivered in WWE. He highly praised the 28-year-old for his charismatic abilities.
The current United States Champion also recalled his match with Logan Paul, which was the latter’s first wrestling match ever. The two faced each other in a tag team match where Rey Mysterio teamed up with his son Dominik Mysterio to take on The Maverick and The Miz at WrestleMania 38.
During his post-match interview, Logan Paul claimed to have defeated Rey Mysterio before. However, Mysterio corrected him, stating it was The Miz who pinned him. Despite this, Mysterio expressed readiness to face Paul whenever. He announced plans to confront Paul on SmackDown next week, setting the stage for a showdown in the ring.
Rey Mysterio talks about a “Hair vs. Mask” match against Dominik Mysterio
At WrestleMania 39, Rey Mysterio faced his son Dominik Mysterio after months of problems between the two. Rey took out all his anger on his son after all the latter had said about his father in the months leading up to Mania. However, according to Rey, the two might not be done with each other. The 48-year-old thinks there is still a lot of storytelling left for both.
While talking to Ariel Helwani, Rey Mysterio commented on having a potential stipulation match against his son in the near future. Speaking about a “hair vs. mask” match between the two, Rey said, “Why not? I would love that. I don’t think we’ve ever seen that here. Imagine him bald. Don’t imagine me without the mask; you already know.”
The last time Rey Mysterio was seen without a mask was during his time in WCW over two decades ago. He had gone through a character change and wrestled without his mask for some time before going back to his original gimmick when he debuted in WWE in 2002. Therefore, it will not be shocking if the father-son duo decides to have another match with some added stacks.
