“I was just TIRED mentally and physically” Rey Mysterio reveals the reason for his hiatus from the company in 2015
Rey Mysterio is probably the world’s greatest luchador in the pro-wrestling industry. Mysterio made his WWE debut in 2002 before making a name for himself in Mexican wrestling promotions such as AAA and rival promotions of WWE such as WCW and ECW. Mysterio has been described as one of the best cruiserweights to ever step into a WWE ring. Mysterio recently completed his 20 years in the company and has had a decorated career in the company.
In his 20-year-long career, Mysterio has captured World Heavyweight Championship twice, WWE Championship twice, Cruiserweight Championship thrice, Intercontinental championship twice, United States Championship twice and Tag Team Championship once with his son Dominik Mysterio making him a grand slam champion as well as a triple crown champion as well. During the course of his career, Mysterio has gone head-to-head with the biggest names of the company.

Rey Mysterio says WWE has always been his family and it will be the only place for him to retire
While Mysterio has always considered WWE to be his family, the Big Little Man has now revealed the reason for parting his ways with the company in 2015. Mysterio had left the company in 2015, before making a return at Royal Rumble 2018. Mysterio in a recent interview revealed the reason for his hiatus and said- “I left because I was just tired physically, mentally, and I just wanted to reconnect with my family. But I always knew that I wanted to come back, and I wanted to retire in WWE,”
Though Mysterio later clarified that he is sure of the fact that his career will end in WWE for sure. He further said that he never thought of going somewhere else. And not only his but his son Dominik Mysterio’s loyalty also resides with the company. He termed the company his family. A family that he has been a part of for more than 20 years.
Mysterio said- “Now I know the WWE has always been my home. And not only for me, but for my son as well, and for my family. You know, we’ve been part of the WWE brand for 20 years. And, once you get to know family, you just don’t turn away from them.” Since his return, Mysterio has captured the United States Championship twice and has even won Tag Team Championship with his son Dominik Mysterio. The Mysterios are currently feuding with The Judgement Day as Rhea Ripley continues to dominate both of them.
