Charlotte Flair made her much-awaited WWE return on SmackDown last week. After making the WWE Universe wait for 7 long months, The Queen finally came back to claim what’s her. After Ronda Rousey successfully defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Raquel Rodriguez, she fell victim to the Queen’s unforgiving wrath. Charlotte immediately challenged for a title match, and the Baddest Woman on the Planet accepted.
The bell rung and Charlotte planted Rousey with a perfectly landed big boot. After the champ escaped a near-fall, she ate up a wicked spear from The Queen, but somehow Ronda Rousey countered that up. Despite of captivating on the hold, the Champ wasted some precious time in mocking the fans which costed her the title. Charlotte smartly rolled her up to become a 14-time Women’s Champion. Fans went wild upon the live scenes and as a true babyface, Flair celebrated with them.
However, there’s one person whom she didn’t got a chance to celebrate with. That’s her Hall of Fame father, Ric Flair. For the unversed, Ric was present backstage for the show. But, without doing much and just meeting with Reigns and Cena, he left the building. The Dirtiest player in the game wasn’t made aware of his daughter’s stupendous return. And pretty much like him, most of the people backstage were put in dark about the matter, as revealed by Ric Flair himself on To Be The Man podcast.
“I was in the building and left and didn’t know it. It was the first time in so many years that nobody knew. I was in the building, I went and saw Roman (Reigns) and John (Cena), it was the greatest time and I really felt like part of the family again. I had a ball, but I didn’t even know. I watched it and they put it on every TV for me. It was amazing. That was old-school kayfabe.”

What’s next for Charlotte Flair now?
This Friday night on SmackDown, Charlotte Flair will address the WWE Universe. She seems absolutely ecstatic after her title win and most probably we’ll end up knowing her first opponent by then. Basic theory suggests that Ronda Rousey may demand a rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship which will probably happen at the Royal Rumble.
However, it doesn’t rules out the possibility of a huge match involving Flair at WrestleMania 39. As previously reported by Xero News, there are plans to have Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair as one of the top matches at The Showcase of the Immortals, this year.
Although, at the moment it seems a slight miscue to imagine it, things can turn around real fast. Since the regime change, the women’s division has been represented to more conviction. Hence, most likely the creative has some significant plans in store for top-card women’s matches at Mania’23.
