This week’s SmackDown followed the build-up to the Survivor Series. During the show, fans witnessed a pivotal moment for the future of the Brawling Brutes. Butch and Ridge Holland battled Pretty Deadly in a tag team match on the show. However, in a shocking turn of events, Ridge simply walked out of the ring, deserting his stablemate.
The fast-paced action saw some incredible wrestling spots. However, the turning point of the match arose when Ridge Holland walked out of the ring after receiving a dropkick. The 35-year-old departed from the stage without even looking back. Butch, surprised by this move by his partner, eventually helped Pretty Deadly secure the win.
The tension between the two stars has been there all along. This is the second time Ridge has expressed his frustration against Butch. Both stars, recruited by Sheamus, formed their faction – the Brawling Brutes. However, the Celtic Warrior has been out of action for a few weeks due to his shoulder injury.
WWE might be planning for a potential breakup of the group, which could lead to a singles run of the three superstars. According to rumors, this might herald the return of the Bruiserweight gimmick of Butch. It is falling back on being fascinating to see the future of the Brawling Brutes and how Sheamus will deal with the mess caused by Butch and Ridge in his absence.
Sheamus states Ridge Holland hasn’t been given proper opportunity to prove himself
The Brawling Brutes have been an entertaining faction on SmackDown for over a year. The group has given some of the hardest-hitting matches in WWE. However, Ridge Holland of the faction has been questioned about his credibility for a long time. He is accused of being unsafe while working. Recently, Sheamus took sides with his stablemate Ridge as he praised the superstar.
In an interview with Metro, Sheamus had some praise for Ridge Holland. He went on to say that his friend had not been provided with proper opportunities to prove himself. The Celtic Warrior stated that Ridge is an amazing athlete. However, past incidents around him have not been fortunate.
I think Ridge got put in a situation, or tarnished a little bit. People were saying he was dangerous and stuff. People have been skeptical about Ridge Holland’s credibility for a long time. It is incredible to see Sheamus supporting the 35-year-old superstar. As of now, all eyes are on the Brawling Brutes, as WWE might be planning a possible breakup for the faction on SmackDown.
