“Becky Lynch was the first one, and that shocked me” – Road Dogg after his WWE release
Road Dogg got released from WWE this year in January.
WWE continued on with their habit of releasing talent from their contracts citing budget cuts as the reason. Several superstars have been already terminated from the company in recent years regarding these cuts. WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg also got released from the company back in January as initially reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com as part of NXT personnel cuts.
He was working as a Smackdown lead writer since 2019. He later got himself into a new role when he started teaching the newer recruits at the WWE performance centre the art of promo skills and character development. Days after he got released, Dogg informed his fans and well-wishers that he’s alright and doing well. He also thanked them for showing all the affection and said “it’s just business”.
While speaking on Inside the ropes, the attitude era veteran Road Dogg mentioned that as soon as he made his way out of the company, Former Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was the 1st person to call him up and told how much she enjoyed working with him. Roady went on to say that it touched his heart.
“One thing about Becky is, few people called me when I got fired. She was the first one, and that shocked me! I mean, it really did,” revealed Road Dogg. “It caught me because I didn’t know, and she proceeded to tell me how she felt about working with me and working on SmackDown with me and all that stuff, and I had no idea she felt that strongly. Man, it really touched my heart.”

Becky Lynch is one of WWE’s megastars today
Before making her main-roster debut as the “Irish Lass Kicker”, Becky previously performed on NXT where he had some memorable matches particularly one against Sasha Banks. Debuting on the main-roster in 2016, Lynch went on to compete in at Wrestlemania 32 in a triple-threat match for the Divas Championship against Banks and Charlotte which she lost. But, after that she’s not looked back a bit.
Shattering records and creating moments., that’s exactly the definition of being Becky Lynch. She’s the longest reigning Raw Women’s champion in history and also the inaugural winner of the Smackdown Women’s Championship which was introduced as part of the 2016 brand split.
