Before having his biggest WWE match at SummerSlam, Jey Uso suffered the wrath of negligence. He and Roman Reigns kicked off this week’s SmackDown. Being a connoisseur at manipulating people, Reigns tried to demotivate him. However, Jey exclaimed that he’s going to beat The Tribal Chief once again, much like how the scenes went down at Money in the Bank.

This week on SmackDown, Jey Uso faced Grayson Waller in the main event. During the match, Reigns and company made their way out. Jey continued to toil with Waller as Reigns enjoyed the action from ringside. Despite the Aussie’s best intentions to derail Uso’s momentum before SummerSlam, Jey beat Waller after a picture-perfect spear, followed by the Uso Splash.

Soon after, Solo Sikoa broke onto the scene and started unloading on his older brother. Jey avoided Sikoa after a well-placed Superkick. However, Roman tried to intervene and ate a spear of his own from the former Right Hand Man. The winds changed their course once Reigns and Sikoa outnumbered Jey.

There was a complete brawl in the ring. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa executed a deadly combination of Spear & Samoan Spike simultaneously, not once but twice. At the end, The Tribal Chief stood tall to close out the show. Watch the video here.

Just a week ahead of their Tribal Combat match at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns took his shot. However, for Jey to avenge his beatdown, he might have to wait until August 5 in Detroit. Reigns is not scheduled to appear on next week’s SmackDown. That being said, Uso would have to go through Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman’s last message to meet his cousin in the Motor City.

Despite the hype, Roman Reigns isn’t likely to lose his title next week at SummerSlam. Jey Uso pinned The Tribal Chief at Money in the Bank, a feat that eluded everyone over the past 3.5 years. However, it just might not be the time for Jey to have a World Title run at this point. Also, one of the main reasons why Roman would end up keeping his gold in Detroit is WWE’s long-term plan for WrestleMania 40.

The Wrestling Observer has already stated that Cody Rhodes is penciled in for his rematch in Philadelphia next year. So, the goal still remains the same when it comes to the long-term vision of the creative. Till then, WWE could do a couple of swerves involving Roman, Sikoa and Heyman. Then, a point may arrive when Roman Reigns is left with no one by his side.

If that happens, Cody’s prophecy about Reigns will come true. He said that the Tribal Chief will be a Chief without a tribe and he will be a Roman with no more reigns. The American Nightmare would then have the best shot at finishing the story. And just like that, the greatest World Title reign of the modern era would close its book.
