The Tribal Chief wouldn't like this one.

The fans watching this year’s Royal Rumble must’ve noticed something peculiar. And that’s Roman Reigns neither opening nor closing the show last night at Tropicana Field. With that in mind, he broke a nearly three-year-long streak. Since he captured the gold at Payback in 2020, The Tribal Chief had not wrestled in the middle of a show except for a couple of instances in 2021, and last night.

Yesterday, at the Royal Rumble, Reigns successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He prevailed in a highly contested, fatal 4-way match against LA Knight, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. A moment came where The Viper caught Roman mid-card with an RKO, and it was picturesque. All three challenges had their fair share of putting an exclamation mark on Reigns’ historic title reign, but they couldn’t.

Bloodline’s Enforcer Solo Sikoa also poked his nose, and some would say that he pretty much saved The Tribal Chief. The ending saw Roman Reigns spear AJ Styles to get the win. The Head of the Table is now closing in on 1300 days as the champion. Some fans thought that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson could confront his cousin after the match, but it didn’t happen either.

The Great One recently spoke about what it means to potentially battle Roman Reigns somewhere down the road. Speaking of the match Reigns had at the Royal Rumble, fans were not content with it. The major flaw is WWE’s incompetency to tailor a different ending to his matches apart from his cousin’s meddling. Needless to say, the fans have had enough of The Tribal Chief holding onto that gold.

Cody Rhodes has challenged Roman Reigns for a rematch at WrestleMania 40

In the main event, Cody Rhodes defied the odds to win the second Royal Rumble match on the trot. The majority thought it would be CM Punk who’d punch his ticket to WrestleMania. However, an instance came when Punk spewed venom saying he didn’t come back to lose to Dusty’s kid, and Cody turned the tables.

He threw The Best in the World over the top rope to script history. After pointing to the WrestleMania sign, The American Nightmare chose Roman Reigns. The latter was there in a top-tier suite in the arena and exchanged some words with Rhodes from up there.

With that being said, one of the two-night WrestleMania main events is seemingly set. Cody will get another chance to finish his story, and if he doesn’t, the door might be slammed shut on his legacy.
