Crown Jewel is shaping up to be one of the biggest WWE events of the year. Thus far, four marquee bouts have been made official for the show. Without a doubt, the match of the highest caliber will be the one between Roman Reigns and LA Knight for the Undisputed Universal Championship.
After the major announcement, the Tribal Chief responded to the newest #1 contender. This is what Roman Reigns wrote on his X account:
Now you can actually call yourself a “megastar.”Roman Reigns told LA Knight on X (formerly known as Twitter)
As a result, he mocked LA Knight’s persona and accepted the challenge. During last week’s episode of SmackDown, the pair had a back-and-forth exchange. First, the formerly known Eli Drake laid a verbal beatdown on the Bloodline Leader. Later, he squared off against Solo Sikoa in the show’s main event. After defeating the Enforcer, LA Knight would receive a spear from Roman Reigns, who stood tall to end the night. As expected, the decision to ‘push’ the 40-year-old into the main event scene generated a lot of buzz online. At the moment, it seems that the Championship match will headline the upcoming Saudi PLE.
Also, this will mark Roman Reigns’ first televised title defense since defeating his cousin, Jey Uso, at SummerSlam. While the Head of the Table might be the favorite, the rivalry will elevate LA Knight’s status in the WWE. Needless to say, the latter has earned the opportunity to compete for the biggest prize in the company.
Roman Reigns’ booking not affected by Vince McMahon’s absence in creative: Reports
Roman Reigns is the current ‘face’ of the WWE product. As many might know, Vince McMahon played a key role in elevating the former Shield member to his present stature. Recently, reports emerged that the Chairman was no longer involved with creative.
In light of the WWE-UFC merger, Triple H has gained full creative control with the support of Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel. Therefore, many fans wondered what this meant for Roman Reigns’ plans. According to Fightful Select, the “new” changes do not affect the Tribal Chief’s on-screen booking.
Reigns contributes any input to his on-screen character alongside the Wise Man, Paul Heyman. Also, Michael Hayes acts as the producer for every single segment involving the Bloodline. Moreover, LA Knight was the planned opponent for Crown Jewel even when Vince McMahon “lurked” around backstage.
