Roman Reigns hails from a dynasty that has an abundance of wrestling glory. The pervasive Samoan has followed in the footsteps of legends like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Umaga, Rikishi, The Wild Samoans, and more. However, despite being born among such masters of their game, Reigns was largely influenced by Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.

During an interview with ESPN, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion expressed his adulation for the Canadian great. Reigns affirmed that Hart was kind of his guy, and he stood out for him from that era of wrestling. Calling him a journeyman, Roman Reigns admired Bret’s zeal to go out and deliver 30 minutes of wrestling every time he stepped in that ring.

Bret Hart. Bret “The Hitman” Hart was kind of my guy. A lot different from years with the Ultimate Warrior. There’s just something I respect that he was a journeyman, like a blue-collar you know, a sports entertainer, that pro wrestler going in there and wrestle for 30 minutes every single night.

The Tribal Chief then explained how the 66-year-old legend brought a different dynamic to the top. Even after being influenced by someone who’s been a workhorse for WWE, Reigns currently finds himself doing the opposite. He’s enjoying a very relaxed schedule that allows him to wrestle sporadically.

Roman Reigns’ fluctuating schedule has sparked debates among fans. Some are concerned about his part-time status despite his consistent attention-grabbing presence on WWE programming.

Roman Reigns might be on his way to rewrite history books in WWE

With over 1150 days as the World Champion, Roman Reigns looks primed for history. His next stop will be Crown Jewel, where LA Knight will be gunning to upset The Head of the Table and dethrone him. However, that sounds good in fairy tales and is rather far from being a reality. Roman is a heavy favorite to retain against Knight.

Once he gets past The Megastar, he will be hoping to remain unbeaten until WrestleMania 40, where Cody Rhodes will be his potential opponent. Though it seems like WWE might let Cody finish his story with Reigns, there could be a twist in the tale.

To surpass Hulk Hogan‘s 1474-day World Title reign, Roman Reigns must defeat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. If accomplished, Reigns will undoubtedly eclipse Hogan’s celebrated milestone.
