WWE declares that Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam

Roman Reigns successfully defended his WWE Championship against Riddle on this week’s SmackDown. After months of speculation, we have finally got the answer to Roman Reigns’ opponent at SummerSlam and it is none other than “The Beast incarnate” Brock Lesnar. Lesnar and Reigns last squared off on RAW for the Undisputed Championship, which Lesnar had lost to Reigns at WrestleMania 38. Roman Reigns successfully defended his title the next day on RAW too.

Roman Reigns wasn’t seen on the main rosters and his last fight is dated to have happened in May against “The Scottish warrior” Drew McIntyre. Reigns has signed a new contract with WWE, which allows him to appear in fewer events.  Brock Lesnar too has been out of action since his appearance for the rematch at RAW.

After defeating Riddle in the main event of SmackDown Roman Reigns held mic in his hand and proclaimed to the WWE Universe that he’s leaving the building, while displaying an overstated sense of Self importance and arrogance towards the WWE Universe. Just as he was leaving with his Bloodline, Brock lesnar theme hit and the crowd went wild seeing the “Beast incarnate” entering the ring. Reigns ordered the usos to leave the ring as he wanted to exhibit his courage to Lesnar.

Brock lesnar offered Roman to shake hands with him and as “The Tribal Chief” proceeded, Lesnar quickly grabbed him and delivered an F-5 to Roman, and with no efforts took down the Usos by delivering an F-5 to both of them. This indicated that Brock lesnar has challenged roman reigns for a bout at SummerSlam.

Lesnar’s matchup with Roman Reigns at SummerSlam was officially announced by the WWE on Twitter. The match is stipulated to be a last man standing match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have a history of fierce rivalry between them. They have faced other numerous times in fatal four way, triple threat and a couple of singles matches. The first time they faced each other was at WrestleMania 31 in 2015 for the world heavyweight championship, which lesnar had defended successfully but lost it that night itself to Seth Rollins as the latter cashed in his money in the Bank contract and defeated both Roman and lesnar.

SummerSlam is scheduled to take place at Nissan stadium on July 30.
