Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler became the Unified Women’s Tag Team Champions on a recent episode of SmackDown. They defeated the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, during the match. However, after the match, the UFC Hall of Famer took to social media to praise her opponents for the tough fight they put on, on SmackDown.
Ronda Rousey debuted in WWE, appearing at the first Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018. She faced off against Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. Rousey’s performance at WrestleMania 34 against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon shocked everyone when she teamed up with Kurt Angle. She would hold the Women’s World Championships on three separate occasions and win the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2022.
In her latest Instagram post, the 36-year-old shared a clip from her match on SmackDown. It included the final moments of the match, where Ronda Rousey and Baszler locked in their submission moves on their opponents. This was after Dawn and Fyre got in some offense against the UFC alumni.
Ronda Rousey broke kayfabe on social media as she praised her opponents for their efforts. She captioned the video, saying, “Yaddah yadda “don’t break kayfabe” but let’s be honest for a sec, these chicks @wwe_alba and @isla_dawn can f’n go.” This was a display of respect among the women who were opponents on screen.
Ronda Rousey might make her debut on NXT soon
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles on SmackDown. It was announced later that the women would defend the titles on all three brands; Raw, SmackDown and NXT. This meant that the Tag Champions would be treated as free agents in the company moving forward.
The latest reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that more stars from the main roster might show up on NXT soon. Seth Rollins’ appearance on the black and gold brand proved to be extremely successful in terms of ratings, and WWE might follow up on the same.
Therefore, it would make a lot of sense for the newly crowned Women’s Tag Champions to make an appearance on NXT to defend their titles. This would be a return for Baszler to NXT, where she was one of the most dominant NXT Women’s Champions. While her partner, Ronda Rousey, is yet to appear on the black and gold brand. Hence, if the reports are to be believed, the Rowdy One might be making her NXT debut soon.
