Santos Escobar breaks silence after heartbreaking loss against his mentor Rey Mysterio on SmackDown

The main roster run for Santos Escobar until now has been nothing but a treat. He aligned himself with WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio in April, and they have been having a blast since then. The two have teamed up, faced each other, and have also been a part of the LWO for a long time now. Working with a legend like Rey, Santos was bound to show his gratitude.
The two faced each other in a match for the US Championship on the latest episode of SmackDown. However, Escobar could not get a victory over Mysterio, and the WWE legend retained his title after a grueling match. Following the match, the 39-year-old took to social media to show his disappointment about the loss. He wrote, “I’ll never stop fighting for my dreams… Nunca dejaré de pelear por mis sueños… POR. LA. RAZA.”
Right after their match ended, the Street Profits and Bobby Lashley attacked Rey and Santos. The other members of LWO ran down to the ring, but that failed as Lashley destroyed them. The segment ended with Lashley and the Profits standing tall. Therefore, Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar could not have a moment after their match.
Following the developments from SmackDown, Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits might go after Rey Mysterio and the LWO. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the feud plays out. Fans can also expect Santos Escobar to turn heel in the coming months, as it would help him develop a new character and have a feud with a legend like Rey Mysterio.
Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio challenge Bobby Lashley and Street Profits for a match at Fastlane
Following the beatdown on SmackDown, Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar were furious with the Street Profits. They challenged the two, along with Bobby Lashley for a match at Fastlane, as they wanted to face man-to-man. The challenge was put out for the heels to accept. This could be a tag team match between the Street Profits and the LWO members.
Otherwise, it could be a six-man tag match between Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and a partner against all three members of the new group. NXT superstar Dragon Lee sat in the audience during the match. When Lashley and Profits jumped Mysterio and Escobar, it agitated him. Therefore, he could be the third member of Mysterio’s team.
The match has not been made official yet, but fans can expect it to be announced on or before the next episode of SmackDown. It will also be the go-home episode of SmackDown before Fastlane. Therefore, WWE will leave no stone unturned to make it a big event.
