Major Update on Saudi Arabia PIF being potential buyer of the WWE

Saudi Arabia PIF is still in the list of potential buyers of WWE

This start to the year has been one hell of an adventure for the WWE. It all started when Vince McMahon returned to the company. McMahon made his return as the executive chairman of the WWE. It has been said that the sole purpose of his return is to find the best deal for WWE to be sold to some conglomerate. This week also saw the resignation of Stephanie McMahon as the Co-CEO of the WWE.

It is now said that the resignation might be due to her disagreeing with the sale of WWE. According to a report by Axios, Stephanie McMahon and her husband, Triple H, were against the sale of the WWE.

Rumors of Saudi Arabia PIF buying the WWE had spread like wildfire, but soon they were found to be untrue. According to the latest report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Saudi Arabia PIF is no longer a favorite on the list of potential buyers. Although it is still on the list, it is not the front-runner.

AEW owner Tony Khan, who has been following the news of the sale closely, is also said to have been in the pool of potential buyers of the WWE. After Vince McMahon’s retirement in July, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Nick Khan took over the reins of WWE. Triple H has done a splendid job up until now as the creative head of the company. The Cerebral Assassin brought many released WWE Superstars back to the company. Many wrestlers have revealed that they enjoy working for Triple H and that the atmosphere backstage is kind of laid-back.

With McMahon’s return to the company, fans have expressed concern over him taking over as the head of creative. However, in the same report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon hasn’t been to the office or paid attention to the creative aspect. Even if McMahon is no longer in charge of recruiting and dismissing talent, Meltzer asserted that this doesn’t guarantee that things won’t change in the future.

“For now, McMahon has not been to the office nor at television. The fear in some places that McMahon will maneuver himself back to running the company or heading creative and be in charge of hiring and firing is not the case today. That doesn’t mean things won’t change.”

With all of these rumors swirling around, only time will tell who will buy the company and what its future holds. If Tony Khan buys the WWE, fans would see the AEW and WWE merge after the deal happens. However, it is up to Vince McMahon whether he would ever want to sell it to AEW owners.
