WWE’s recent talent cuts, stemming from the UFC-WWE merger, have saddened both fans and wrestlers. Notable stars like Dolph Ziggler and Mustafa Ali were let go, leading to disappointment among fans. Shawn Michaels’ surprising revelation about Ali’s release added to the somber atmosphere in the wrestling community.
Shawn Michaels, during a media conference for No Mercy, expressed surprise at Mustafa Ali’s release. He disclosed that neither he nor others in NXT were given prior notice about the releases, leaving them blindsided by Ali’s departure.
According to Fightful Select, the NXT higher-ups have already chalked out the creative ideas for Mustafa Ali in 2024. There was palpable frustration among the officials over the lack of communication between the main roster and NXT. Some of the sources confirmed the reason behind the frustration.
The frustration arose from NXT creatives prioritizing familiar names, including Mustafa Ali and Dana Brooke, at the last minute. Reportedly, the 37-year-old wrestler worked through an injury to facilitate his NXT run.
Speaking of Mustafa Ali, HBK further said, “I think the world of Mustafa, had a great working relationship with him in the time that he was here, I will miss him. That’s what we do here in NXT. We adjust. The fire drill is something that is a regular thing here in the WWE and certainly here at NXT […] he’s an unbelievably creative and talented young man and no doubt his future looks incredibly bright, and he’ll be successful.”
The WWE Hall of Famer praised The Disrupter, noting his creativity and bright future. He commended the NXT team for handling last-minute changes before No Mercy. Trick Williams is confirmed to face Dominik Mysterio for the North American Championship at the event.

Shawn Michaels gives his honest assessment on Jade Cargill signing with WWE
Jade Cargill is now officially WWE-bound. On September 26, WWE made an official announcement of a multi-year contract with Jade. The recently signed superstar was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida earlier this week. In the recent NXT No Mercy media call, Shawn Michaels shared his thoughts about Cargill.
Speaking on the media call via Fightful Select, Shawn asked about WWE signing with Jade Cargill. The Hall of Famer revealed he briefly met Cargill in the Performance Center and called her a wonderful and pleasant lady. He also described the rising superstar as a “hard worker.” Furthermore, HBK stated that WWE inking the deal with Cargill is a huge deal, considering all the fanfare and media attention around her.
“She’s an awesome specimen. A striking young lady and such a presence about her. I feel like that is something, she is a young lady tailor-made for the WWE, and I think she has an incredibly bright future here, whoever gets her. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I wouldn’t love to have her here in NXT, but wherever she ends up, I have no doubt that she’s going to have great success,” said Shawn.
The WWE Hall of Famer concluded by saying that Jade Cargill is tailor-made for WWE, and she will do immensely well regardless of which brand she will start on. It is going to be interesting to see when and where Big Jade will finally make her WWE debut.
