WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels, recently appeared in the media conference before No Mercy coming this Saturday. In the media call, Michaels made a bold statement when he showed his interest in having CM Punk on NXT. The WWE legend admitted to welcoming him there with open arms if he ever comes back to WWE.
Nick Hausman of the Haus of Wrestling asked The Heartbreak Kid about the possibility of CM Punk’s comeback to WWE. He also asked the WWE legend whether he would be open to having Punk back in the company. Michaels’ interesting response to the question took everyone by surprise.
“He’s a guy that does numbers and makes money. I think that would be a risk-reward ratio that I’m sure, from a company standpoint, they’d have to consider, but when it comes to, would we take him in NXT and have him on our television? Are you kidding me? Of course, I would. I just don’t think anybody would let me, Who doesn’t take that kind of star power?” HBK said.
The 58-year-old said that he is more than willing to work with CM Punk on NXT if it were up to him. HBK described The Second City Saint’s addition to the NXT roster as a money-making move. However, he admitted that, unfortunately, the decision to bring him back to WWE is in the hands of the higher officials. Punk is a free agent at the moment, following his recent termination from the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Shawn Michaels makes a bold claim that he and CM Punk share very similar personalities.
In the same aforementioned No Mercy conference, Shawn Michaels said a bundle of other things about CM Punk. The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he sees a lot of himself in the former AEW superstar.
Speaking with Nick Hausman about potentially working with CM Punk, Michaels confessed that he has always liked and enjoyed working with the 44-year-old star. He further recounted a wholesome anecdote of his meeting with Punk in a hotel, where the former signed CM Punk an autograph.
“I always enjoy working with Phil, I didn’t get to do it much, but I don’t know. I’ll say this. I understood him. I think there were, whether you want to say there were similarities in us. And I understand he’s a different kind of cat and can sometimes be challenging to get along with people, but again, that’s probably why I like him because I suffer from the same thing,” said HBK.
The WWE Hall of Famer stated that he feels there are a lot of similarities between him and Punk. He even added that it is one of the reasons why he is fond of The Straight Edge superstar. With Shawn Michaels open to working with CM Punk, it will be interesting to see whether the latter ever returns to the promotion.
