While feuding with Mandy Rose back in 2020, Sonya Deville explored herself a lot. That time in history was characterized where she was given a chance to shine. Everyone knew that Deville is a fantastic worker. Also, she dropped subtle hints of a strong character during that phase. The whole summer of 2020 revolved the romantic storyline between Otis & Mandy Rose.

In a plot twist, Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville entered their love story as outsiders. They tried their absolute best to fend Rose away from the No. 1 guy, Otis. Week in and week out, Deville & Rose had some fantastic promo segments. That caught attention of viewers and The Miz, in particular. Sonya recently revealed how she got emotional after receiving a huge compliment from the A-Lister backstage after one of such segments.

Speaking on Maria Menounos’ Heal Squad podcast, the former MMA fighter recalled her time from 2020. At that juncture, she was oozing in confidence. After delivering one of her promos on SmackDown, she encountered Miz backstage. Mike stopped her to utter how much he enjoyed her promo. Deville broke in tears after Miz called Sonya’s verbal project as one of the best he’s ever seen. Those words coming from someone who’s himself made a career out of magnificent promo skills, meant everything to Sonya Deville.

“I went out there and I never felt so confident, and I delivered it and I remember I walked off stage and Miz was standing backstage, and he was like, ‘That’s one of the best promos I ever heard.’ I started crying because coming from him, someone who’s great on the mic, amazing, been around for so long, I was like, ‘Wow.’

Debuting in 2006/07, The Miz has accomplished himself as one of the very best to ever do it. His memorable Intercontinental Championship reign in 2017 restored the depreciating value of that title. However, he’s reached at a very weird phase of his WWE career at the moment.

He’s been continuously losing matchups on Raw. This week too, he got pancaked by a returning Tommaso Ciampa. Apart from that, Mike has just been used as a guy who can lose to anyone. For sure, he has seen his prime in the company. However, after giving everything to this business, he deserves better, at least than being jobbed out each week.
