Sonya Deville is a well-known face in the world of professional wrestling. While her wrestling skills are quite notable, her emergence as the first openly gay female wrestler in WWE brought her tremendous fame and support from fans. She recently announced her engagement to her girlfriend, Toni Cassano.
Sonya came out as a lesbian while she was a part of the show ‘Tough Enough.’ Not just among the ladies, the WWE superstar was also popular among men. One such guy crossed all the limits of obsession and stalked Sonya for years before planning to kidnap her out of her house in Hillsborough County.
Back in 2020, a man broke into Deville’s house with a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, and mace. Clearly, his purpose was to harm the WWE star. The stalker walked into her house and sat there to watch and listen to Sonya Deville’s activities. He waited for the perfect opportunity to pounce upon her, but the home alarms dismissed his plans.
Sonya ran out of the house after spotting a trespasser from her window at around 3 in the morning and called 911 immediately. The sheriffs came and found the man inside Deville’s home. Confessing the reason for his actions, he revealed that he had turned up at her place to keep her hostage.

What was the relation of the attacker with Sonya Deville?
The man who had been moments away from attacking Sonya Deville was not known to the WWE star. He had been stalking Sonya for many years before finally taking the big step. The man, however, did not know the star personally, but had a disturbing obsession with the homeowner.
Sonya Deville breathed a sigh of relief after the man got into the clutches of the official authorities. She took it to her official Twitter account to thank everyone for the love and concern they showed her during the tough time. She especially thanked the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for their help and quick response on the matter.
Being a world-popular name, it becomes a very tough situation for the stars to control their stalkers. Had there been any mishap with the home alarms, Sonya Devile’s life might have witnessed a not-so-good event. She herself calls the entire scenario, “a very frightening experience.” But all is well that ends well.
