Top Hollywood Star Hints at In-Ring Return, Pitches a Match Against Top WWE and AEW Stars

While we have seen WWE stars transcend the showbiz, it is common for stars and celebrities from Hollywood to appear in the wrestling industry. Stephen Amell, who already had a stint with WWE and AEW, has expressed desire to fight some WWE and AEW stars.

While speaking to NBD Al Emarat News, the Arrow star expressed his desire to face stars like Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles, and Darby Allin. When asked about facing current-generation superstars, Amell quickly replied- “Cody Rhodes“. The interviewer then pitched an idea of him facing AJ Styles, to which he said- “That would work too. Yeah, AJ Styles, that could be good.”

The idea of Amell returning to the squared circle comes from his upcoming series Heels, which is returning with its Season 2 and is based on a fictional pro wrestling promotion. Talking about the series Amell said- “I think what I’m going to try to do is…I’m going to try to do something with WWE or AEW around the launch of the second season. We’ll see. However, no official date is announced for the premiere of the Starz series, which makes it difficult to tell when we can see Amell back in the ring. Only a few know Amell has made significant appearances in the wrestling world. He has appeared in promotions like WWE, AEW, and ROH as well. Now it needs to be seen when Amell returns to the ring.

Stephen Amell Has Fought The Likes of Cody Rhodes and Christopher Daniels in WWE and AEW

Stephen Amell has wrestled in both WWE and AEW. The reason he stressed so much on wrestling Cody Rhodes has a pretty interesting backstory. Cody Rhodes, then known as Stardust, had attacked Amell(storyline) when he was invited as a special guest on RAW in 2015.

This would prompt Amell to attack Rhodes, setting up a match with Amell teaming up with Neville (now known as Pac in AEW) to take on Stardust and Wade Barrett. Amell and Neville would win the fight as fans praised the Arrow star’s performance.

The next time Amell encountered Rhodes was not as an opponent but as a teammate. Amell teamed up with Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks to defeat Flip Gordon, Scorpio Sky, and The Addiction in 2017 at Ring of Honor. He fought his last match against Christopher Daniels at AEW All-In in 2018, but lost the match and is now once again ready to step inside the squared circle after 4 years.
