“A real special thing!” Stone Cold Steve Austin talks about what would have happened if he worked with the former face of WWE
The Texas Rattlesnake speaks about the one WWE superstar that he would have loved to face in his career. That superstar is none other than the 16-time World Champion, John Cena.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was one of the company’s biggest stars, dominating the landscape during The Attitude Era of WWE (formerly known as WWF). On the other hand, John Cena rose to popularity in the mid-2000s and late 2010s and was widely regarded as one of WWE’s most popular superstars. So naturally, it would have made sense for the two household names to face off against each other at some point, right? Unfortunately, it never happened.
Steve Austin recently appeared on “Out of Character”, where he discussed with Ryan Satin his in-ring return and a potential match against John Cena. Austin stated that he would have loved to face off against The Cenation leader at some point in their careers. He said that it would’ve been a real “highlight” as well. The two superstars shared the ring multiple times for segments, but a match between them just never came to be.
“Working with him would have been a real highlight, and I’ve had a bunch of highlights. It would have been a real special thing. There is something about John. People are so invested in his matches. He’s a very special talent. It would have been great to have a match with him. Will it ever happen? No. I think very highly of John and I love him“, said Steve Austin.
When asked if he ever considered stepping back into the ring to fight Cena, Austin replied that names are always being thrown around in conversation. However, he never feels the need to wrestle if the “stars don’t align” for the occasion. At WrestleMania 38, when he faced off against Kevin Owens in his hometown of Dallas, Austin explained that no one expected that match to be really competitive or to go on for 30 minutes.
According to him, they exceeded the expectations for that match, which worked for that time and place. He explained why his match at WrestleMania 38 made sense. His career started and ended in Dallas, which was a fitting ending.
Steve Austin has wrestled only once over the last twenty years due to his early retirement. It is unlikely that he will ever step into the ring again, unless the timing is right. Therefore, it is safe to say that a match between The Texas Rattlesnake and The Cenation Leader would probably never happen.

Steve Austin shares an update on a possible WrestleMania match
In a recent interview, Steve Austin provided a much-awaited update on whether he would wrestle again at the Showcase of The Immortals. He said that he hasn’t yet heard from WWE about a match at WrestleMania 39. He said that he’s pretty sure that he would miss out on this year’s April Extravaganza as he doesn’t have any matches scheduled for him.
According to Austin, WWE has a deep enough roster as of now, which is comparable to the roster of Attitude Era. The company should instead focus on them, as they have plenty of names to draw from.
The WWE Universe hopes to see Austin in the ring once again. He’s one of WWE’s most popular superstars, receiving huge pops wherever he goes. But what do you think? Should Austin make an appearance again this year, or is it time for The Texas Rattlesnake to finally hang up his boots?
