If anyone’s still befuddled over how Cody Rhodes let Dwayne Johnson walk over his mentally dead carcass on SmackDown, it’s understandable. Cody said that he still wants Roman Reigns‘ title, but not at WrestleMania. And it followed the unexpected arrival of The Great One. He had a spine-chilling faceoff with Reigns and pretty much confirmed that he’s going to headline WrestleMania with his cousin.

Like most of the fans, former WWE Superstar Summer Rae is also perplexed. She has expressed her displeasure over the weird treatment of Cody Rhodes last night. Rae wondered how The American Nightmare let someone else take his spot when he was hellbent on finishing his story over the past year. She said she would’ve personally loved to see Cody get his revenge against Reigns this year.

In another post, Rae admitted that WWE may have made a pivot to their WrestleMania plans once CM Punk got injured. Though the 40-year-old then-diva admitted having chills every time she heard The Rock’s music and called Roman Reigns the guy, she was intransigent in her stance. Becoming the voice of the fans, Summer Rae not only justified her fandom but also listed plausible reasons for it.

And if it was bc Punk got hurt & this is a change of plans it doesn’t take away from the fact that we all want THAT match, THE match at mania. The only match….Cody v Roman. I don’t want it on another ppv. I only want it there. It DESERVES that. And I don’t want it in 2025

WWE is expected to make Reigns vs. Rock official for WrestleMania sooner rather than later. It also means that Cody Rhodes will have to take a different route to Philadelphia this year. Most likely, The Prodigal Son will revert to Seth Rollins this Monday on Raw. The Visionary tried to allure Cody to challenge him for the World Heavyweight title instead of Roman Reigns, and Rhodes might go after it.

It seems like things in WWE have defied their natural flow over the last week. From Vince McMahon’s lawsuit to CM Punk’s tearing his triceps, there’s been a mad rush. And as for Dwayne Johnson replacing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, Dave Meltzer has an update on how it came through.

The report states that Johnson pushed very hard for the match. Brock Lesnar’s absence at the last second also sparked a domino effect. Most importantly, WWE felt that they needed to redirect the epicenter of attention from Vince McMahon to something else, and Dwayne Johnson stepped up to it.

The original plans had Cody Rhodes facing Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins going after CM Punk at The Showcase of the Immortals this year. It’s rumored that Cody will instead face Rollins now.
