The tag team division has a new life under the Triple H regime. Many teams are showing what they are capable of by delivering great matches week in and week out. However, due to the titles being unified, teams from both Raw and SmackDown don’t get many chances to challenge the champions. Now, WWE has subtly teased the partition of the titles at WrestleMania 40.

During the latest episode of Raw, Michael Cole, on commentary, emphasized that the six-pack ladder match will not be over until both sets of titles have been retrieved. That could potentially mean two different tag teams could snatch the belts and be announced as Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Champions, respectively. On the other hand, there is still a lurking possibility of a single tag team retrieving both titles and the unification of the championships continuing.

The story started when Raw and SmackDown GMs Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis announced tag team qualifying matches. These matches were held to determine the five teams that would participate in a six-pack ladder match at WrestleMania 40 along with the current champs, The Judgment Day. The New Day, #DIY, and Awesome Truth qualified from Raw. Meanwhile, New Catch Republic and the duo of Grayson Waller and Austin Theory qualified from the blue brand.

Damian Priest and Finn Balor last defended their titles against the New Catch Republic, successfully retaining the belts at Elimination Chamber. The odds are against them, as five teams are looking forward to ending their dominant reign. Obviously, fans will have to wait and see how things play out this weekend at WrestleMania.
