Goldberg is one of the legends of WWE who still craves his retirement match at the age of 56. The former WWE Universal Champion wants to end his career in the desired way after his run with WWE ended abruptly. Amidst all the buzz related to his retirement, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long stated his wish for Bill’s retirement match to be against arch-rival Bret Hart and that he should incur an iconic end to his career. They should come full circle to end the former Universal Champion’s career historically.
Long stated in an interview with WrestleBinge that he is unsure of Hart’s willingness to get in the ring, but Goldberg vs. Bret Hart‘s match would be the ultimate retirement match for both legends. Although Goldberg has been pursued as a weak performer in recent years, Hart’s presence could bring in the real rage within him, recalling his real-life heat with The Hitman. Bret would prove to the world why Goldberg is worth a million dollars amidst all his trolls.
Teddy Long said, “I’d like to put him with is the person that really helped him along the way, but I don’t know whether Bret wants to get back in the ring. But I’d like to, you know, for him and Bret Hart to have that final thing.”
Bill has been asking for retirement for a long time and has come to talks even with AEW. Teddy stated that he won’t be surprised to see him in the Jacksonville-based promotion, as Goldberg is a lot of money. If he gets the right amount of money for his preferred matchup, then he can wrestle anywhere. Long concluded by saying that he might make an appearance anywhere and asking, “What does he get to lose, why not?”
The real-life beef between Bret and Goldberg is a result of the latter’s hard-hitting superkick to the former. The kick did not cost The Hitman his match, but it ended his career in a few weeks. Hart suffered a concussion following the matchup but seemed fine during the matchup and retained his title in the bout.

Teddy Long recalls Goldberg’s gruesome moment in WCW
The December 23, 1999, episode of WCW Thunder saw Goldberg’s serious injury as a result of his storyline. Da Man had hit the glass of a white limousine that belonged to the NWO. He kept hitting the car’s windows, and he got injured while hitting the third one. When a piece of glass cut his artery, his blood spattered.
Teddy Long remembers this time and states how horrific it was to see it on live TV. Teddy stated how serious Goldberg was about this sport and that he incurred injuries by himself. He even stated how, after that incident, he continued the segment by walking away from the car and ending the episode.
As Teddy discussed it on The Wrestling Time Machine show, he stated that Goldberg was taken immediately to the hospital. He underwent a major surgery while being ruled out of in-ring action for five months from then. Long then concluded, stating that this gesture made his persona look believable with the highest level of rage.
