“Thanks for being here, Charles”- Vince McMahon was thankful towards The Godfather for attending The Undertaker’s Hall of Fame Induction
The Undertaker's Hall of Fame ceremony presence made The Godfather receive a Thank You from Vince McMahon
The Undertaker is one of the greatest superstars of all time and undoubtedly the most compelling character in the history of this business. He received his well-deserved Hall of Fame Induction this year in home state of Texas. The creator behind the Undertaker’s character and the former Chairman of WWE Vince McMahon himself inducted the man behind that legendary dark gimmick Mark Callaway.
The Ceremony was held at a sold out American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas alongside other inductees in the form of Steiner Brothers, Queen Sharmell, Vader and Warrior Award recipient Shad Gaspard. Numerous WWE Superstars and legends were in attendance to celebrate the night including Triple H, Kane, Rand Orton, Shawn Michaels, The Godfather, Stephanie and Vince McMahon and many more.
Taker received the final spot for coming out and delivered an all timer speech in front of everyone. Callaway was there in front of the WWE Universe rather than a man wearing hats and black coat. The speech brought tears and emotions into the eyes of the legendary superstar and to everyone watching around.
The Godfather recently revealed one interesting and fulfilling incident related to Taker’s HOF induction. He revealed that Vince McMahon walked up to that aisle and shook his hands saying “Thank You” for being there. He also said that Vince even wished him on his Birthday that was on May 16th during a recent chat with Two Man Power of Wrestling Trip podcast.
“On my birthday, May 16th, Vince [McMahon] said, ‘Happy birthday big man.’ If that don’t say enough, I don’t know what to say. I don’t know how many people he wishes happy birthday on their birthday. During Undertaker’s induction into the Hall of Fame, Vince walks all the way down the aisle, you know, with the walk he does, and he walks back, doesn’t put anybody over, doesn’t put one person over. He comes by me, shakes my hand and says, ‘Thanks for being here, Charles.”
The Undertaker and The Godfather are close friends
The two men have known each other for a very long time and their friendship runs through beyond wrestling. Although Charles (name of The Godfather) didn’t found much success in WWE as a singles competitor, he has won the prestigious Intercontinental Championship one time which he only held for less than 40 days.
Prior to this year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony, The Godfather has made sporadic appearances with WWE in the past where he also appeared on the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw. Both The Undertaker and The Godfather had recalled their eventful pasts in WWE’s The Bump.
