The news of WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik’s demise left the world in mourning. Sheik left this world on June 7, 2023, at his home in Georgia, at the age of 81. Although at the time the reason for his death was not made, it was not until now that TMZ Sports stated it to be a cardiac arrest.

Iron Sheik’s death certificate has shed light on the matter, as reported by TMZ. The cause of his death is mentioned as a natural one, with cardiac arrest being the reason. Reports suggest that the WWE legend was suffering from hypertension and congestive heart failure in his last few days.

WWE Superstars like The Rock, Triple H, and John Cena paid tribute to the Hall of Famer after his death over social media. Sheik was also known for his sheer presence on Twitter, where his weird tweets generated heat among wrestling fans. He was mostly in a heel character during his run in WWF (now WWE). Therefore, he liked portraying the same persona on the social media platform too.

The Iron Sheik is also looked upon as the one who started the Hulkamania period in WWE. Hulk Hogan defeated Iron Sheik at MSG in 1984 in an iconic match and started his dominance in the wrestling business. The Iranian Superstar contributed a lot to the wrestling business. He was one of those stars who saw the inception of WWE and its success.

Shortly after The Iron Sheik‘s demise on June 7, Ric Flair took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late WWE Hall of Famer. The Hall of Famer addressed his views while sharing picture of a Japanese magazine cover that had them holding a championship together. The then-young stars had done that shoot to promote their wrestling business in Japan.

Flair recounted how they started wrestling together in 1972. Since then, they have both crossed each other’s paths a lot of times, and it has been entertaining every time. The 16-time champion then recalled Sheik’s statement that he said to him, “If I Had Your Hair, I Would Be with Elizabeth Taylor!”

The Nature Boy concluded his message by writing “Rest in Peace” for his soul. Ric Flair‘s emotional message paid a perfect tribute to Sheik, penning down his thoughts in the best way possible for the wrestling legend.
