The Rock had recently been in a lot of headlines, owing to the highly-advertised teasing by WWE for a Wrestlemania match against his Samoan cousin Roman Reigns. However, an NFL athlete as well as a WWE Superstar, Rob Gronkowski revealed that he would want to square off in a tag team match with the Rock being in his corner of the ring.

Rob Gronkowski wants to team up with the Rock

Rob Gronkowski is most well-known for being the NFL’s most physically intimidating tight end. Gronkowski, on the other hand, is a multi-talented athlete who has used his physical prowess in professional wrestling on occasion. There were whispers that after Gronkowski retired in 2019, he would start a WWE career.

Rob Gronkowski recently stated to TMZ Sports that he would love to compete in a WWE tag team match with The Rock. Gronk is no newbie to pro wrestling, having made several special cameos for WWE in the past. While Gronkowski wouldn’t mind a singles match with Dwayne Johnson, he’d rather have The Rock on his team in a high-profile wrestling match. Rob Gronkowski believes that he could learn the ropes from his partner before signing up for a one-on-one battle since Vince McMahon frequently pushes celebrity performers into tag team situations. “Who would it be versus? I’m getting put on the spot. You know, it would be pretty cool to have The Rock come back and face The Rock or have him as my tag team partner. It would be cool to get a People’s Elbow, but it would also be cool to have him on my squad.” said Gronkowski.

He then continued by saying, “It would definitely be a tag team match, no doubt about that,” Gronk continued. “I just love the tag team aspect of everything, you know? It’s my first time, so I really wouldn’t want to be on my own doing a one-on-one match; I’ll be able to get help. And then grow into that role, maybe do a one-on-one match after a couple of tag teams. You know, my tag team partner can help me out with some moves and all that good stuff.“
