In 2021, WWE partnered with A&E for a series called WWERivals. Now, the two parties have combined to produce a special episode to showcase an in-depth look at the rivalry between The Rock and Triple H. The episode aired as the third season premiere tonight. Ahead of the episode, Hunter sent a message regarding his feud with The Great One. In reply, The Rock reflected on their rivalry during the Attitude Era.
The Brahma Bull took to X, where he wrote a message, also hyping the season premiere. The Rock claimed how much he and the King of Kings paved the way throughout that period. Furthermore, he expressed his love for the professional wrestling world while calling it the best it is. Finally, The People’s Legend showed his respect for Triple H.
Hope everyone out there enjoys this tonight as much as we did paving the road over the years. There’s no business, like the pro wrestling business and I LOVE it. Boundless respect to my brother @TripleH. Blood, sweat and ‘thanks for the house’.The Rock on his rivalry with Triple H (via X)
Since their debuts in WWE, the pair have fought for multiple championships and headlined several pay-per-views. Without a doubt, the rivalry’s most notable moment came at Backlash 2000, where they competed in one of the greatest WWE Championship matches of all time. Interestingly, the feud has continued somehow to this day, but rather than competing inside the ring, The Rock and Triple H are seemingly fighting for corporate power.
At the WrestleMania XL Kickoff presser, the rivals had a verbal spat backstage. On the following night on SmackDown, Triple H fired back at The Rock, asserting his power over him. Needless to say, they are destined to butt heads on the Road to WrestleMania.
Triple H awarded major accolade for successful 2023
WWE had perhaps its most successful year in its history in 2023. The promotion sold out several shows and recorded profits across venues while opening the door to international PLEs. The majority of the success can be attributed to the WWE CCO, Triple H, who has improved the on-screen product massively.
As a result, it didn’t come as a surprise when he won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter “Booker of the Year” award recently. Hunter claimed the accolade for the second time, with the first coming in 2015 when he oversaw NXT. In addition to that, WWE won the “Promotion of the Year” award for the first time since 1999.
While the Stamford-based promotion continues to be red-hot going into WrestleMania XL, it will be a tough task for them to continue the momentum. It will be interesting to see how things go for the WWE this year.
