Thus far, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hasn’t allowed Cody Rhodes to outslug him, at least verbally. But the verbiage he’s using to get a hold of “Dusty’s baby boy” has disrupted the flow of ethical norms in WWE. Per SeScoops, The Great One’s profanity-laden promos, especially the ones on social media, have rubbed some people the wrong way.
Recently, WWE higher-ups including Nick Khan, Triple H, and Dan Ventrelle, dispensed an internal memo. It put emphasis on how the talents need to adhere to stringent PG guidelines on television as well as on their social media accounts. However, as the fans have seen, that seemingly doesn’t apply to The People’s Champ.
He has not held back from dropping F-bombs on both Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins as part of their build-up to WrestleMania 40. Not only that, but The Rock has been relentless during his in-ring promos on SmackDown. For instance, this past Friday, the Hollywood actor dissed Rhodes, saying his parents regretted being on drugs and using cheap condoms.
Having said that, there’s a growing feeling of “double standards.” The other talents are reportedly curious to get the rationale behind Rock getting a pass. One source was quoted as implying that even if he’s a big movie star, shouldn’t everyone abide by the rules? Some are basically feeling handcuffed, as they aren’t entitled to curse like the Jumanji actor.
NXT Superstar Dijak backs The Rock’s disparaging promos
It appears like not everyone is mad at The Rock. Current NXT Superstar Dijak has reacted to the aforementioned report, stating he loves The Great One’s profanity-filled promos.
The former Retribution member affirmed that Dwayne Johnson’s offensive verbiage is inspirational to the next generation of sh*t-talkers in WWE.
Don’t worry @TheRock, I love your profanity filled promos. They are very inspirational to the next generation of shit-talkers in WWE.Dijak on X
Nonetheless, one needs to realize the authority Rock has right now. He’s on the board of directors of TKO, the conglomerate that binds WWE and the UFC together.
Moreover, he’s going all out for his in-ring return at WrestleMania XL. It’s going to be his first WWE match in 8 years. The only thing he would want is to shrug off the ring rust as soon as he could.
