Guessing this has never happened before, Dwayne Johnson is going through a lot these days. Yesterday, the news came out regarding the cancellation of his Young Rock series airing on NBC. And today, it’s been claimed by Jabari Young of Forbes through a report that the initial returns of XFL’s latest season are underwhelming.
Even though the joint owners Dwayne Johnson & Dany Garcia touted their league’s astronomical success, they’ve not been able to generate revenue. According to the aforementioned report, the Arlington-based league lost upwards of $60 millions for their 3rd season overall, and the first under a new regime.
Back in 2020, the XFL was drastically affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It caused the midway stoppage of the league just 8 weeks in. Amidst of the ever-increasing nature of that deadly virus, the local body forced the Spring Football league to discontinue their games. Apart from the pandemic, there were chatters of bankruptcy, which would’ve eventually led to the league’s shutdown, had the pandemic never occurred.
This year, the metrics were slightly better. Fans showed interest in attending the game live in-person. Much can’t be said about the television figures as it’s a matter of diversifying interests. Despite the early setback, Johnson & Garcia aren’t losing their hopes. Moreover, they’re pretty optimistic about the league’s next season, which has a revenue target of $100 million. Only time will tell how their confidence reflects in their league’s overall success.

Is there any future left for Dwayne Johnson in pro-wrestling?

Believe it or not, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock’s absence on WWE television is palpable. Even the fans have acknowledged that The Brahma Bull’s days are over as an in-ring performer. That doesn’t stops them wondering whether the former WWE Champion will ever crawl back to the place he used to call his home.
Every year around WrestleMania season, rumors start to boil up if The Rock is there for WWE’s biggest show. However, much like what’s happening from years, Johnson’s filming insurance and other clauses prevents him from taking bumps in that ring. There’s absolutely no skepticism over The Black Adam star’s love for wrestling.
At the end of the day, it always comes down to The Rock himself, whether he wants to do it anymore or not. If he decides to ever step back inside that squared circle for another match, the scenes would be outrageous. That can only prompt tons of casual viewers to watch WWE until the time Dwayne Johnson is there.
