“I’m not sure”- Tony Khan talks about the possible collaboration show between WWE and AEW

Tony Khan in AEW

Tony Khan is known for his generosity and has given a lot of opportunities to talented wrestlers throughout the pandemic. Khan’s wrestling promotion AEW is getting quite popular and has witnessed a 29 percent increase in overall viewing through the first quarter of 2022. AEW Dynamite programme has grown by 28 percent in the P18-49 demo through the first quarter of 2022.

Tony Khan’s company, which began in 2019 is unlikely to be highly lucrative unless it receives a big increase in U.S. media rights payments, which might happen as a consequence of discussions in the coming year or two. However, the data in April 2022 demonstrates that AEW’s sales and other important indicators have increased over time.

On Wednesday nights, beginning in October 2019 and continuing through April 2021, AEW and WWE engaged in competitive action.WWE’s “NXT” and “AEW: Dynamite” both were broadcasted on Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m,  with “NXT” being televised on the USA Network and “Dynamite” on TNT. “AEW: Dynamite’s” ratings were often greater than that of WWE’s NXT; they ultimately prevailed in the conflict.

WWE’s last significant rivalry in a ratings battle was during the Attitude Era, when they competed with the now-defunct WCW, both promotions would be televised on Monday nights, resulting in the Monday Night War. Every Monday, WWE broadcast “Monday Night Raw” while WCW aired “Monday Nitro.” WCW led the ratings for 83 weeks but eventually lost the fight.

Recently Tony Khan appeared on The Ringer’s Masked Man Show and talked about a possible joint collaboration between AEW and WWE. Tony Khan said that he isn’t sure when it will happen but he is open to the idea of the collaboration. Tony Khan concluded by saying that the idea isn’t wild but a bold prediction.

“I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen [AEW and WWE doing a joint show]. But, I would be open to talking about that type of thing. It’s not crazy but it’s a bold prediction.”

Tony Khan’s company includes some former WWE superstars such as Daniel Bryan, Adam Cole, Chris Jericho, Cm Punk, and Big Show. All of them have had an illustrious WWE career.
