Jade Cargill made headlines ever since the superstar transitioned from the Jacksonville-based promotion to WWE. On September 26, WWE made a grand announcement about signing a multi-year contract with Cargill. Tony Khan, the CEO of AEW, recently sat in the post-WrestleDream media scrum and detailed his contract negotiations with Cargill.
Speaking on the media scrum, Khan expatiated on his talks with Jade before her departure. He admitted that Jade’s decision to depart from the company took him by surprise. He had offered Cargill a big and fair offer. However, what transpired next surprised the AEW CEO. It might surprise some of the fans as well.
Tony Khan said, “I was very interested in Jade coming back, and we were having a negotiation. I made a very big offer, and I thought it was a very fair offer. I think she was considering it, and then she asked for a bigger offer, and then I went up again, and I kind of thought that was going to do it. Then, it didn’t, which I was surprised because to be honest, I came up to a number that was higher than her original ask.”
He further stated his surprise after Jade Cargill rejected his second offer. The second offer was a lot higher than what she asked for. In his conclusion, Khan hoped Cargill would stay with AEW until the very last minute. However, they gave her a proper sendoff as things didn’t work out. Meanwhile, WWE has treated Cargill like a megastar since the news of her arrival broke out. It seems like WWE has laid out big plans for Big Jade.
