Brock Lesnar ambushed his rival, Cody Rhodes, as he was entering the building this week on Raw. As a result, Rhodes suffered an injury. There have been questions backstage about his medical availability to compete against Lesnar. The American Nightmare will face Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. Despite Cody’s injury, he remained adamant about competing in the match.

The Beast Incarnate made his way into the ring, assuming Cody’s inability to compete further. He issued an open challenge for having an opponent at Night of Champions. It was Cody Rhodes who answered it and came out with an arm sling, trying to fight back against Lesnar. Brock once again dominated Rhodes and wrapped him in a Kimura lock. He made sure that The American Nightmare didn’t make it to the event in Jeddah.

WWE official Adam Pearce tried to speak with Cody Rhodes about his situation. Pears wanted to convey that Rhodes’ condition was critical and it would be better not to compete. However, the American Nightmare didn’t listen to the WWE official. Afterwards, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H approached Cody Rhodes in his locker room.

The Game said that he needs medical attention and doesn’t need to compete at Night of Champions with Brock Lesnar. Cody responded that it was his arm that was injured. The former AEW star said that he can walk into the ring at ease and destroy Lesnar at Night of Champions. Triple H tried to convince him, but Rhodes remained determined.

The American Nightmare made it clear that he would not delay his fight with Lesnar. Cody Rhodes vowed to battle The Beast at Night of Champions. Despite Triple H’s efforts, Rhodes didn’t change his mind. Therefore, The Game walked away with a sense of admiration for Cody but also disappointment that he couldn’t change his mind. Cody Rhodes recently took to Twitter to revisit his matchup with Kota Ibushi during his run in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Rhodes retweeted a post showcasing his match at Wrestle Kingdom 12. The American Nightmare described it as one of his favorite matches. He called Ibushi one of his favorite opponents.

This match was essential as a part of their storyline. It marked a turning point to see The Elite break up with The Bullet Club, which stayed on its own. Kota Ibushi went on with Kenny Omega as The Golden Lovers while Rhodes turned on Omega, forming The Elite.

Rhodes described the match as short but having a special place in his heart as his favorite encounter. The event even featured a memorable match between former WWE star Chris Jericho and AEW star Kenny Omega.
