Cody Rhodes finally defeated Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. It was surely an emotional moment for him, as his close friends and especially his mother, Michelle Rubio, were there to celebrate with him. However, what made this moment more heartwarming for Rhodes was a gift he received from Triple H. 

After his historic win over Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes commented on ‘finishing the story’ during the press conference. He talked about how real it would’ve been for him to finally be able to show his father, Dusty Rhodes, the championship. The Universal title was not the only gift for him, though, as Triple H, Bruce Prichard, and Nick Khan presented him with his father’s watch backstage.

Rhodes got emotional while talking about his father’s watch, which he sold so that he could pursue his career in acting. For the past few weeks, he claimed that the story was beyond him, but last night, he took the responsibility to finish it. The American Nightmare also vowed to pay back the trust fans have invested in him. 

I wanted to share, I came to the back and Bruce Prichard, Triple H, and Nick Khan handed me this... which is the same watch that my dad had, that he pawned, so that I can go to acting school. So, the level of investment and responsibility that the company just put in my hand, I hope I can pay it back 100 times more.

The 38-year-old received help from legends like The Undertaker, and John Cena, who came out to help him against The Bloodline. It will be interesting to see who Rhodes defends his title against first, with many talented and deserving superstars clamoring for a shot. More importantly, he will look forward to continuing his journey, writing another story after completing one last night.

Triple H broke silence on Cody Rhodes’ win at WrestleMania XL

After Cody Rhodes’ victory, his closest allies came out to celebrate his victory. However, The American Nightmare specially called out Triple H to join him in the ring. Their emotional hug in the ring was certainly an indication of the start of a new era. Later, Hunter broke his silence about Rhodes’ historic victory on social media.

The Game took to X and congratulated the 38-year-old star on his victory. He said that Rhodes has made history by finishing his story. Triple H didn’t stop praising the new champion in the press conference too, as he emotionally stated that his father, Dusty Rhodes, would be the most proud of him.

The 14-time world champion also praised his overall journey, describing how he first failed in the company but then came back and found his own path. He has put his whole trust in him and is excited to see how his title reign plays out. After WrestleMania XL‘s huge success, many fans have now started to believe that this era in WWE may very well just be the greatest of all time.
