Ever since Triple H has taken over the company as The Creative Head, the company has been seeing noticeable changes in its programming and booking styles. Apart from this many released superstars have been brought back by The Game as well. It now seems Triple H is keen on bringing back an iconic PPV that had earlier been a vital part of the company’s programming in the early 2000s.

The landscape of WWE has changed majorly since Triple H took over as the Chief Creative Officer of WWE. The promotion came immediately after former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced his retirement in July 2022.

Since Triple H’s takeover, WWE has seen major changes to it’s programming and talent booking. To add to this, ‘The Game’ has also brought back several superstars who were released during the Vince McMahon regime. And now, there is going to be another addition to the list of returns.

However, this return is slightly different, as it doesn’t concern any superstar. Instead, it concerns a former WWE Pay-Per-View.

King Of The Ring, which was a regular PPV from 1993 to 2002, is rumored to return as a standalone PPV in 2023. During the Attitude Era, King of the Ring was considered one of “The Big 5” events of the company. However, things changed as WWE ushered in the Ruthless Aggression era. While we have seen King of the Ring tournament on several occassions since then, the namesake PPV was never talked about. Until now.

In an exclusive interview given to GiveMeSport, WrestleVotes revealed Triple H is keen on bringing back the iconic PPV next year. While talking about the possibility, Wrestle Votes noted, “There’s a very good chance that King of the Ring is back, and likely back in the format that had happened in the late 80s. The idea is that every single match will happen that night.”

Since its inception, the King of the Ring PPV featured a series of matches, starting with Quarter Final bouts. This would culminate with the finals on the same day. While it seems like a long day to wrestle for the superstars, this resilience and grit is what separates the real men from the boys.

In the past, legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar and Edge have proved their mettle. And with the return of the old format, the newest breed of WWE stars will be put to test.

When asked about the reason Triple H is interested in bringing back the King of the Ring, the reputed source added- “I mean, tournament wrestling is old school wrestling, and Hunter loves old school wrestling. If it still makes sense, especially when you have 500 people on the roster, you can do it. That’s what they’re going to do.

The last King of the Ring Tournament was held last year and was won by Xavier Woods, with the finals being held at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. But things will take a different turn next year, as the legendary PPV returns to our screens after two long decades.

King of the Ring isn’t the only PPV that’s returning to WWE. Reportedly, Triple H is also keen on bringing back No Way Out, at the expense of the annual Hell in a Cell PPV.
