With SummerSlam happening this Saturday, WWE is almost ready to take off for Detroit. The company wrapped up their go-home taping of Raw for The Biggest Party of the Summer last night. The show had its moments, along with a head-scratching decision. Adam Pearce informed Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark that the WWE legend will have a match on this week’s RAW.
Well, Becky Lynch was right there in the conversation, and her rematch against Stratus got official for the night. At first, everybody was baffled. After months of old-school buildup, they were seemingly off the SummerSlam card. However, last night, when Stratus vs. Lynch got underway, Zoey Stark jumped in within 5 seconds. She caused the DQ, rendering the hyped matchup quite nugatory.
After Stratus and Stark mauled Lynch, they left the scene. However, their night wasn’t over, as they encountered Adam Pearce once again. The WWE official told them whatever they did was unacceptable. Trish Stratus said that she wasn’t ready for the match.
Taking that into consideration, Pearce announced Stratus vs. Lynch lll for Monday Night Raw in Winnipeg, Canada, in two weeks. The WWE Official argued that Stratus would have ample time to gear up for the match. Moreover, he emphasized the fact that the scheduled match will emanate from Stratus’ own turf.
Now, the battleground is finally set. Becky Lynch would go to work in front of a potentially hostile Winnipeg crowd on August 14. She might as well prepare herself to suffer the wrath of an anti-receptive environment against a Canadian homelander.
Why WWE took Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch off SummerSlam?
A lot of arguments can be made on this topic. Ever since WWE announced that the aforementioned grudge match would not take place at SummerSlam, fans have been ranting on social media. According to them, a high-profile matchup like that of Stratus vs. Lynch should’ve been on the SummerSlam card.
Furthermore, some can’t get over the fact that WWE has included a random Battle Royal for the show in Detroit, instead of culminating a top rivalry in their women’s division. Well, a lot has changed over the past week in regards to this. As noted by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, WWE officials discussed a different pathway.
Originally, the match was planned for SummerSlam. However, to avoid overcrowding on the card, pitches were made to move Stratus vs. Lynch to WWE Payback in September. Well, that too seems to have been nixed. For sure, the decision would’ve definitely turned heads backstage. Both women would look to prove a point in a couple of weeks in Canada.
