When the Owner of WWE, Vince McMahon, stepped down in July last year, the product and morale of employees significantly improved in the following months. This included on-screen talent as well as staff members behind their desks. However, since the beginning of this year, when the former CEO returned to the company to facilitate its sale, everything appears to be deteriorating.

According to a recent report by PWInsider Elite, the backstage environment is uneasy and uncertain after Vince McMahon’s return to the chair. Many people working backstage and at the headquarters in Stamford have felt like they are “walking on eggshells” in the past few weeks. This feeling is similar to how they felt when Vince was in charge, not more than a year ago.

The major reason behind this dip in morale boils down to the sale of the company. Many employees are even scared of losing their jobs after the sale is complete, creating even more uneasiness at the Titan Towers. PWInsider writes that the recent front-office departures also had this feeling of “uncertainty” and “a target on their backs” because of their tenure and the prospect of bigger paychecks.

While morale is not as low as it was last year, when Vince had complete control, it has been “waning” in recent weeks, according to the report. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Vince McMahon is asking for $9 billion for WWE. As the deals and negotiations move forward, it seems to be a catalyst for other people to lose their jobs as well.

WWE’s TV rights deal is set to expire this year, and the company’s owner has decided to sell the company. The negotiations appear to be moving quickly, as WWE CEO Nick Khan stated that a sale could take place within the next three months. According to the report, Vince McMahon is also looking to complete the deal by the end of 2023. Khan also assured the investors that Vince will step down after the sale is completed.

The WWE Chairman caught fire recently due to a promotional poster for WrestleMania mentioning his name. The fans started to speculate that Vince McMahon had returned to WWE. However, there is no confirmation or report following this event, and it remains only a rumour for now. Triple H seems to be running the show as far as the on-screen product is concerned.
