The hot-streak of WWE television viewership continued with last week’s SmackDown. As been the case this entire year, the blue brand has been regularly roping in an year-on-year increase in terms of total viewers and 18-49 demographics.
That trend is not going to end anytime soon. According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, WWE SmackDown on Fox this past Saturday night averaged 2.468 million viewers. Additionally, the show did 0.64 rating in an all important P18-49 demographic.
With such high rating, SmackDown ranked #1 for the night in P18-49, according to Showbuzz Daily. Going into detailed breakdown, the conclusion of SmackDown Tag-Team Championship showdown between The Usos and Braun Strowman & Ricochet was the high point. Going by the Patreon information of Wrestlenomics, that juncture had 2.7 million people watching the show, with 0.72 being of 18-49 range.
This is the third time so far in 2023 when SmackDown has topped the 2.4 million mark. With Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania on the horizon, those numbers are expected to rise further, landing the 8-10pm Friday night broadcast to their best numbers overall since it’s inception. A huge credit goes to Roman Reigns and his storyline with Sami Zayn for the recent hike in television eyeballs. They’ve thrown it out of the park with this emmy-deserving stuff.

What went down on SmackDown last week?
The show opened with Paul Heyman gloating about Roman Reigns, without the Tribal Chief’s in-ring presence. After a spree of trash-talk, Sami Zayn interrupted the Special Counsel, spitting fire through the microphone and vowing to end Reigns’ record-breaking Undisputed Title run.
Another notable point came when Jey Uso showed up at the last possible second to his brother’s aid for defending the Smackdown Tag-Team Titles. Connecticut welcomed the Right Hand Man with a deafening ovation. The Usos successfully defended their gold after a pleasing performance.
Show also witnessed the return of Ronda Rousey who ganged up with Shayna Baszler on an outnumbered Natalya. The former UFC aces demolished The Queen of Neidharts. And finally, the main-event saw a Fatal-4-way match between Rey Mysterio, Karrion Kross, Madcap Moss and Santos Escobar. Surprisingly enough, Moss picked up the win to earn himself an Intercontinental Championship shot at Gunther.
