Former US President Donald Trump has made several WWE appearances, often in storylines created by his friend Vince McMahon. While he never wrestled, there were plans for a parody wrestler to represent him in a match, stemming from his real-life feud with comedian Rosie O’Donnell.
On the January 8, 2007, episode of RAW, Vince McMahon came out to the ring and took the honor of introducing the competitors. McMahon announced Rosie as the double-chinned diva with “God only knows how much” weight to the ring.
McMahon then announced Donald Trump as the billionaire, who like him, runs an empire and takes pleasure in saying, “You’re Fired!”. None of the celebrities were present in the ring. However, they were represented by Kiley McLean and Ace Steel, respectively. The match was nothing but a pastime in the show and had bad ratings.
Fake Rosie mostly dominated fake Trump and always had the upper hand due to her size. Nonetheless, the result of the match was unexpected, as Trump’s parody turned the tables at the lost moment and threw a cake, Fudgie the Whale, on the opponent’s face. Later, the match had a spot as the wig-wearing Steel jumped on Rosie from the middle rope, attempting a headbutt.
Trump’s parody then took advantage and pinned Rosie’s parody while adjusting his wig to not fall off. The match had extremely poor wrestling. Moreover, it garnered criticism from the fans later and even by those present in the Scottrade Arena. The crowd was booing during the match and raised to the limits with the chants of ‘TNA’ towards the end of the match.
The real-life tension between Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell
The rivalry between billionaire Donald Trump and The View’s former co-host, Rosie O’Donnell dates back to 2006. It was when Tara Conner, the Miss USA, faced accusations of drug use and underage drinking with promiscuous activities. Trump took no action and instead gave her a second chance, sending her to rehab without firing her.
Rosie criticized the behavior of the former US President and slammed him on personal matters. She stated, “He left the first wife, and had an affair. But he’s the moral compass for the 20-year-olds in America”. Donald Trump stated that Rosie was making false statements and added, “I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements. And it’ll be fun!”
The controversy began since then and continued with statements from both ends. However, Tara, on the other hand, still shows her gratitude towards Donald Trump for making the right decision and sending her to rehab for her own sake.
