Vince McMahon is arguably the most notorious figure in all of professional wrestling. He has a way of doing stuff that only the 77-year-old can get along with. Fans know him for sabotaging the wrestling careers of several talents. However, McMahon’s proven to cross limits for those who fall under his good books. Similarly, a top WWE name benefited from the same in 2021.
The name in question is Kevin Owens. As known, the Prizefighter’s contract was set to expire in December 2021. There was a general notion that Owens could possibly leave WWE. Also, his obnoxious booking at the time completely aligned with the speculated vision. However, defying the odds, the former Universal Champion re-signed with the company under a multi-year agreement.
During his conversation with Ariel Helwani, the Quebec-based wrestler touched upon his decision to stay with WWE. According to him, it was quite simple to hold his ground once he met Vince McMahon. The former WWE CEO made it crystal clear that he wanted KO to stay. Also, Kevin realized he’s got more to accomplish in his WWE career. And of course, he was offered a handsome amount of money too.
He said, “I had no idea how badly they [WWE] wanted me to stay here, I had no clue what was possible elsewhere, I had no clue. And honestly… none of the talks went very far. “Because once it was time to talk to Vince, he made it clear he wanted me to stay. And I felt like I wasn’t done here. Not even career-wise, but there’s also a whole side to this place that people don’t see, that people don’t know.”
Vince McMahon has been served with subpoena

On Wednesday, federal enforcement officers issued a subpoena addressing Vince McMahon. The legal order concerned McMahon’s previous hush money allegations. The court has issued a search warrant for Mr. McMahon and he is in deep water once again. However, right now, the WWE Executive Chairman is on complete bed rest. He recently underwent a career-altering spinal procedure.
Moreover, WWE issued a press release stating that McMahon has been on medical leave since July 21. The period was obligated for the foreseeable future and didn’t give any concrete update about McMahon’s return. Now, if one would think, was his surgery a pre-planned affair in regards to the imminent warrants against Mr. McMahon? That could be true or not. But the timing overlap does make the case quite suspicious.
As of now, Vince McMahon will retain his hierarchical power once he returns to the office. However, with investigations renewed, McMahon’s hibernation might not last forever. He told CNBC that he’s confident of no intentional wrongdoing from his side. The government will eventually judge him not guilty, Vince added. McMahon has been in the same shoes previously too. So it’s not that big of a deal for the 77-year-old business magnate.
