Vince McMahon hasn’t been around WWE shows in any form as of late. Does that mean he’s realized that the business is booming without his suggestions? Well, much can’t be said about his stance on that, but his recent absence has a different story to it. That being said, Mr. McMahon underwent major spinal surgery last week.
Complete details surrounding the surgery were posted by Fightful behind their paywall. According to them, the surgery took place last week and lasted for five hours. It was deemed a success after the doctors took an intensive approach to the issue. Due to this, Vince McMahon has been away from any sort of work, including any remote changes to WWE shows.
Sources close to McMahon described the surgery as a ‘life-altering operation.’ The report failed to garner any concrete details on McMahon’s immediate work schedule. Moreover, WWE CCO Triple H missed this week’s Raw taping from Tampa. In his absence, Bruce Prichard led the show, and it was noted that The Game’s absence won’t last long, but he will be back shortly.
Coming back to Vince McMahon‘s current physical state, he’s at home recovering well. There’s no word on how long the 77-year-old would need to be on bed rest. Whatever the case might be, fans can expect the WWE Executive President to keep his shadow away from the WWE creative. Unless he interferes and rips the scripts apart, there’s no need to worry about anything.
Vince McMahon’s booking pattern annoyed a former WWE manager
Fans are no strangers to Vince McMahon’s obsession with rewriting the entire show moments before it goes onair. Before Triple H took over, it was a regular phenomenon. Superstars used to grow furious at McMahon, but to no avail. A 73-year-old veteran too faced similar wrath while being employed under Vinnie Mac.
The said name is Dutch Mantel. Recently, he revealed some personal insights on Smack Talk. He recalled how superstars needed to report to the arenas at 2 pm. However, a couple of hours later, they used to get informed about their original scripts getting torn at the eleventh hour. Vince McMahon had a bad habit of committing such acts, leading to backstage chaos.
Mantel often got baffled at the fly but was helpless. Even the top stars walked on eggshells about their creative direction heading into a particular show. At least today, the situation has improved drastically. With Triple H at the helm, the backstage environment has been oozing optimism. McMahon’s influence is not what it used to be. Hopefully, this trend will continue forever.
