Wade Barrett is currently enjoying his time in the WWE as a commentator on the SmackDown Brand. Barrett was last seen in action in 2016 and thereafter left the company to focus on his acting career.
Wade Barrett was one of the WWE superstars that deserved a push for the main event, and fans would have loved him as the WWE Champion. The Former Intercontinental Champion might have won the big ones in the WWE, but he chose to leave the company, only to return in 2020 as a commentator on the NXT Brand.
Barrett commentated on the NXT Brand until his shift to the SmackDown this month. Wade Barrett is a talented wrestler, with his character work being praised by fans and many wrestling pundits. The Former IC Champion is regarded as one of the best heels of the current generation and has feuded with some of the best in the business, most notably John Cena.
Wade Barrett recently gushed about Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston to Ryan Satin of Out of Character, saying that they never injure anyone in the ring. He referred to Kingston and Ziggler as the company’s workhorses and described them as touch wood. In his subsequent comments, Barrett referred to them as “unbelievably resilient athletes” and “guaranteed Hall of Famers” one day.
“They’re [Ziggler & Kingston] never hurt either…. Just unbelievably durable athletes and the respect that they have in the locker room is unparalleled, people love those guys. Guaranteed Hall of Famers one day.”
Wade Barrett isn’t ruling out an in-ring return
Wade Barret mentioned the prospect of wrestling again in the same interview. He stated that he has never ruled out wrestling and that it is high on his priority list. Barrett declared that he no longer believed he was physically capable of engaging in full-time wrestling and that he would like to avoid the mental challenges of the sport.
He said that while he maintains his physical fitness and is still in excellent form, working full-time won’t be possible due to his current commitments to other activities. He also remarked that he enjoys commenting and doesn’t want to stop doing it.
