The WWE universe is buzzing with excitement as the Elimination Chamber gets closer. Just five days away from the event, fans saw something very special last night on Raw. In a bold move, WWE hyped up the match between Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns on Raw without the Tribal Chief being there. However, his Challenger did come out on Raw and had a spine-chilling encounter with the 2023 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes.

Sami Zayn surprised everyone as he came through the crowd for an “impromptu” segment on Raw last night. The SmackDown superstar called out Cody Rhodes to have a face-to-face conversation with him. When Cody came out and stood in the same ring with Sami, the crowd already started erupting with cheers for both of their favorites.

This was the first time that both Cody and Sami stood in the same ring. And it soon became clear why it was saved for this special go-home show for the Elimination Chamber. Both superstars brought their A-game and lit a fire in the ring with their words and emotions. This was the reason that on a very rare occurrence, the crowd chanted “This is awesome” in the middle of a promo.

Kicking it off, Sami Zayn asked the American Nightmare to state whether what he said last week was true or not. Does Rhodes truly believe that Zayn can defeat Roman Reigns? From then on, both superstars went back and forth and got fierier as the segment progressed. This segment came a week after Rhodes had another promo of the year segment with Paul Heyman last week on Raw. You can watch the events unfold here.

In a nice recall to the end of the men’s Royal Rumble match, Cody Rhodes made his intentions clear of finishing his story at WrestleMania. The Raw superstar also encouraged Sami Zayn to do the same this Saturday. As both superstars stood under the WrestleMania 39 sign, this possibly foreshadowed what the main event of that show could look like. In a bold move from WWE, Roman Reigns or any member of the Bloodline didn’t come out to interrupt the segment.

As the SmackDown superstar made his exit from the crowd, the American Nightmare went on to have a match on the show. In another supposedly impromptu decision, Cody Rhodes decided to fight Baron Corbin when the latter trashed his father in a backstage interview. Despite not being in his gear, Rhodes defeated the Modern Day Wrestling God rather easily. The American Nightmare does not have a match this Saturday at Elimination Chamber. Therefore, it would be interesting to see if the men’s Royal Rumble winner would show up in Montreal in any capacity.
