After months of speculation and uncertainty over FTR’s future, the internet was sent into a frenzy after the events last night. AEW fans got to see the real-life drama transpire on the screen as Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood furthered their rivalry with The Gunns.
On the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, Austin and Colten Gunn had a match with Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin). After the AEW Tag Team Champions won the match, their rivals, FTR came out to confront them. However, before they could say anything, The Gunns initiated started the promo saying nobody wants to see FTR.
The Firm members further denigrated their rivals reminding them that they already lost and doesn’t deserve a title shot. However, the 7-star tag team didn’t give up and threw extreme stipulations at their peril. Cash Wheeler proposed that if they lose they will never challenge for tag belts followed by going even further of disbanding FTR altogether.
However, after The Gunns emphatically refused their offers, it was Dax Harwood who threw the ultimate bait. Adamant in proving that their first loss to “A*s Boys” was a fluke, Dax said if they lose to them again they will “quit AEW.” This, of course, aligned with the recent rumours that they might be going back to WWE. The AEW Tag Champs finally faltered and accepted the title match. You can watch the back-and-forth between the two tag teams here.

FTR’s contract status in AEW
For the past few months, Dax Harwood has been very public about his AEW contract in his podcast, FTR with Dax. Additionally, the former WWE superstar has teased going back to the rival promotion on multiple occasions. Harwood even revealed the exact timeline of his AEW contract, saying that it will expire by the end of April.
After their return at Revolution, many believed that FTR has re-signed a deal with AEW. However, Dax countered these rumours claiming, “zero has changed” about their contract status. Amidst these rumours, Tony Khan has booked one of his best tag teams in a career-threatening match adding ambiguity to the real-life scenario. The confirmation of the match could mean that FTR has signed another deal, and they managed to turn this into a story. On the other hand, it could also be that they will really leave after losing to The Gunns. However, the fans will have to wait and see the next few weeks of Dynamite to know for certain what the future holds for FTR.
