Dominik Mysterio successfully retained his NXT North American Championship at The Great American Bash. It was a triple-threat match featuring ex-champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali. “Dirty” Dom had just won the title on the July 19 episode of the Gold brand. As expected, Rhea Ripley helped his Latino Heat defend their title.
The bout started with the challengers briefly teaming up to neutralize the champion. Dominik was accompanied by fellow Judgment Day member and on-screen girlfriend, Rhea Ripley. The latter made her presence felt as she interfered in the match just when it looked like the champion was in danger of losing.
Rhea took advantage of the no-disqualification rules as she performed her finishing maneuver, the Riptide, on Wes Lee. She sent the 28-year-old through the announce table, helping Dominik Mysterio pick up the victory. You can watch the video here:
“Mami” helping her fellow Judgment Day teammates has been a recurring theme for most of their matches for the past year. The faction has been dominating headlines as of late. All four members are currently part of major storylines and angles, whether on RAW or NXT.
Rhea Ripley’s match at Backlash was supposed to be a squash

Rhea Ripley is arguably one of the best women’s wrestlers on the planet right now. She hasn’t missed a single step this year. From winning the Royal Rumble match to winning the Women’s World title at WrestleMania, Ripley has dominated the division.
The Judgment Day star has been heavily backed by backstage officials. Therefore, to make her look indestructible, the plan for her first title defense was a squash. However, that match turned out to be against Zelina Vega in her home country at Backlash. As per a Fightful report, WWE’s plans changed after seeing the Puerto Rican gain massive crowd reactions.
The bout ended up lasting seven minutes, with Vega getting in some offense before Rhea put her away with the Riptide. Furthermore, the report stated that this performance helped raise the LWO member’s stock in the company. Evidently, this decision helped everyone involved in the situation.
