WATCH: Ronda Rousey suffers the wrath of a vocal Montreal crowd, receives loud “You can’t wrestle” chants on SmackDown
The wild Montreal crowd showed why it is called the "Bizarro World" as they showed no respect to Ronda Rousey, chanting a phrase she had never heard in her pro wrestling career.

Ronda Rousey has been a contentious figure in the world of pro wrestling. The former UFC champion didn’t have the smoothest transition into WWE, with fans not reacting the way she wanted them to. This became quite evident in the latest episode of SmackDown when the crowd turned against the former SmackDown women’s champion.
On the last stop before the Elimination Chamber, Natalya and Shotzi went up against Ronda and Baszler in Montreal. The crowd clearly showed their animosity towards the former MMA stars by booing them throughout the match. The Montreal audience was more than pleased to cheer for one of their own, Natalya, on the other side of the corner.
The crowd’s heat was intense, which even broke into a chant that Ronda Rousey had never heard inside the squared circle before. Showing total disrespect, the WWE Universe at Bell Centre started chanting, “You can’t wrestle” when Ronda and Natalya were trading blows. Judging by the people in the ring, there is no doubt at whom these chants were directed.
Ronda Rousey has called fans “ungrateful” in her past interviews and even referred to pro wrestling as “fake fights”, garnering much heat from the fans. When she eventually turned heel, owing to the crowd response, she sounded much more disinterested in her promos than before. The 36-year-old superstar had a series of mishaps last year, as she botched multiple spots in her matches against Liv Morgan and Shotzi Blackheart. All of these things seem to contribute to the recent response from the wild Montreal crowd. You can watch the vile chants of the WWE Universe here.
Ronda Rousey returns to in-ring competition on SmackDown
After suffering a major loss at the hands of Charlotte Flair on the last SmackDown of 2022, Ronda Rousey took a brief hiatus from the company. The Baddest Woman on the Planet made her return to the blue brand last week. She immediately re-ignited her alliance with Shayna Baszler, helping her MMA buddy against Natalya.
On the latest episode of the blue brand, the former SmackDown women’s champion made her in-ring return as well. Rousey and Baszler took on crowd favourites Natalya and Shotzi Blackheart. The Horsewomen of MMA continued their dominance in the tag team division as Ronda made Shotzi tap out to the Armbar. It seems both of them would continue to work together as a tag team, potentially even getting a shot at the WWE women’s tag team championship currently held by Damage CTRL.
