Jey Uso squared off against Roman Reigns in a Tribal Combat match at SummerSlam. It was for the Undisputed Universal Championship. As expected, the two cousins delivered as they went at it for almost forty minutes. However, in the end, the Tribal Chief subjugated “Main Event” Jey.
The former tag team champion looked very close to ending the longest reign of the modern era. As he was about to make history, he was pulled out of the ring by his twin brother, Jimmy Uso. This left the Detroit crowd stunned, as both Jimmy and Jey Uso had recently left The Bloodline together.
Jey Uso ended up losing the match due to the interference, which cost him the opportunity to become the Tribal Chief. When the show went off the air, Jey was seen heartbroken after the shocking betrayal from his brother. He was accompanied to the back by a few officials, while the crowd chanted “Uso.” The 37-year-old was in disbelief over what had transpired tonight.
The Usos’ bond had looked stronger than ever after their win at Money In The Bank. Moreover, Jey Uso had frog splashed Solo Sikoa through the announce table as revenge for the latter doing the same to his twin brother. Soon after this, Jimmy betrayed him against the same man who had tortured them for almost three years, Roman Reigns.
What next for Jey Uso after SummerSlam?
Jey Uso has never won a singles title in his career, as he has always been in the tag team division. At SummerSlam, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for him to claim his moment. Furthermore, the former tag team champion was nearing dethroning Roman Reigns and becoming the “Tribal Chief.”
When he had the championship in the grasp of his fingers, Jimmy Uso turned on his twin brother, costing him the opportunity. Therefore, a brother-versus-brother rivalry is likely to take place following that. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, before Money In The Bank, The Usos discussed the possibility of a feud between them. They claimed that it was perfect as a match for WrestleMania.
Of course, there’s a long road to the next edition of the Showcase Of Immortals. With the rumored absence of Roman Reigns, the WWE Universe can expect the bout to come sooner. With the addition of Solo Sikoa as well, a triple threat or a fatal four-way for the Undisputed title when the champion returns is anticipated by the fans.
